Demonstrators calling for a higher minimum wage protested across the country including in the Tampa area.Dozens gathered in front of McDonald's and Burger King restaurants in Temple Terrace holding signs. A couple of McDonald's employees, including Nene Christopher, walked out to join them.“I'm hoping I don't lose my job, but I was willing to take a chance,” she said. “But yes, I'm nervous.”As protesters walked down the road, some began blocking a portion of the intersection of East Fowler Ave and North 56th Street by sitting in the crosswalk.“We want $15, we want respect, and we deserve it. So we feel like this is what it's going to take,” said Bleu Rainer, a protester.
